One of the major items is to clear taxes before leaving HK.  

Document/ID required:

• IR56G
• IR56B
• HKID

I informed company that I would be leaving HK permanently upon resign with 1 month notice.  Company is responsible to provide IR56G and IR56B forms to proceed with tax clearance in Revenue Tower (IRD).

My last day was May 2, 2020 and kept chasing company for the IR56G/B forms..  finally got those forms on May 11, 2020 (today)!!  Really need to follow up closely or else will miss the deadline!!  Company will let you know which floor to go otherwise can go 1/F to check.

So.. today at around 11am, I went to company got the 2 forms and went to 26/F straight... luckily not a lot of people and filled the tax forms and requested for tax clearance and letter of release the same day as company was holding my last payroll...  Since paper work has to be done, the lady asked me to come back again after 2:30pm.  Left at 11:35am.

*it will be easier and faster to bring a copy of previous tax form for the ease of filling the tax form immediately.*

Back to 26/F again at 3pm and got the payment vochure... Then settled payment at postal office in the same building and went to 7/F for the letter of release... the progress was smooth and left at 3:30pm

Then rushed back to company with the letter of release and finally got my final payment and reference letter!

What a day!! Wan Chai one day tour~~
